Introduction

Here on this site you will find information that you did not know about, that you can use to improve your game. Because lets face it if you could improve your average by just 10 pins a game wouldn't you have more fun bowling? That's what this site is all about, spreading my years of knowledge to help others enjoy bowling as much as I do, and by doing this hope to grow interest in the sport of bowling. The information alone won't turn you into a pro, only hard work and practice to the tune of 50 to 100 games a week will do that.

The US Open Oil pattern.

Well how many ways can I explain this. The tech part of it is that the first 26 feet has over 60 units of oil (A FLOOD!) Then it continues down to 40 feet with slightly less. The same amount of oil is distributed basically even from gutter to gutter.

Now to describe it in a different way. For lefties or right handed, it does not matter. There is NO playable shot outside from the 10th board to the gutter. Corey Kistner, a fellow bowler said it best, "The 10 board IS the gutter!" That describes this pattern to a T. If it gets outside the 10 board it is not just out the window, it is off the planet. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING! will hook back to the pocket if it gets outside of the 10 board. So if all you know is how to play down and in from the outside on your home house shot. You are SUNK! Cause that won't play here.

The US Open oil pattern is considered to be BY FAR the toughest shot on the planet. Anyone who has ever bowled on it will NOT disagree.

The US Open.

First day of competition at the US Open. This year I am not deathly ill. So things will be shockingly better. Bowling at 6:00pm eastern time. They still had not set up the camera's for Xtra frame yet as of yesterday. So I'm not sure if my lane assignments today will land me on one of the TV pair or not. My lane assignment today is, 17, 29, 43, 55, 69, 9.............Here is the link to the PBA if you want to follow the tournament also there is a link there if you want to sign up for Xtra Frame so you can watch the tournament live every day. They are streaming live now, the first squad started at 8:00am this morning.......http://pba.com/

Crystal Boyer - Ohio State High-school woman champion.

This is a video of Crystal Boyer shown on the local TV station. I was proud to have been able to coach  her this last year, she was eager to learn new things and be willing to put in the practice time to learn at a faster pace. She was able to improve to the point that this year she won the Ohio State High-School Championships. Which by the way was held at the bowling center owned by HALL of FAME bowler Wayne Webb.

Here is a link to see her scores.

Here is another link to see all the women scores

Here is another link to see the Boys scores
You will notice that Crystal bowled the 4th highest series overall.

How to grip a bowling ball.

This video will explain the proper way to hold on to a bowling ball. If you have ever had your thumb hang in the thumb hole of your ball, this will solve that problem once and for all. I also mention the use of bowlers tape in this video. I will do a whole segment on bowlers tape in the near future.

Fingertip grip, Video #1

The first video showing how a fingertip grip is better than a conventional or house ball grip.

The house ball

In the first video I use a typical house ball drilled with a conventional grip, and my spare ball, which is a house ball drilled with a fingertip grip. A house ball has no real weight block other than a small piece of counter balance weight at the point where the finger holes will be drilled. Rather than trying to explain that I have created a link to Columbia 300, they have a great graphic of my actual spare ball CLICK HERE. When you get there run your mouse over the ball and you will see what the inside looks like. Here is a link to show you one of my other balls that you will see on future video's so you can get the idea of how far ball technology has come CLICK HERE.

Advances in Bowling

Over the last 20+ years there has been significant advances technology wise to the bowling balls, lane maintenance equipment and scoring computers. The least known by the general public are the changes in lane maintenance and bowling balls. In the early posts I will be covering bowling balls.

The info that I will be exposing about the bowling balls of today will amaze most people who are not regular bowlers.
If you are still using a house ball you are really cheating yourself out of as much as 20 pins or more per game. Because these days there is a huge difference between the house ball and the new balls of today.
